ABOUT THIS 3D FIGURINE

Illidan Stormrage, a night elf born Demon Hunter who became neither night elf nor demon, but something more, is the legendary character of the World of Warcraft franchise. Having committed horrific acts against the races of Azeroth in pursuit of power, Illidan Stormrage was imprisoned for ten thousand years, until his release during the Third War. After his release from prison, he went through many obstacles and now appeared for all WoW enthusiasts in the guise of a model for 3D printing. As mentioned the author of the beautiful Illidan Stormrage 3D printing figurine, the inspiration for the creation of this model came after reading the story about the character’s acquisition of “The Skull of Gul'dan”. The 3D artist paid meticulous attention to the smallest details of the iconic hero’s appearance, carving Illidan’s signature Fel tattoos all over the figurine’s body. The 3D printing figurine comes with a set of interchangeable hands to hold The Twin Blades of Azzinoth that can also be replaced with empty hands holding a long chain. The Betrayer for 3D printing is depicted standing on a large rocky platform showcasing the wide wing-spread and angry facial expression. As expected, the burned-out eyes of the Illidan Stormrage figurine are concealed with the Cursed Vision of Sargeras and the character’s horns, hooves and spikes perfectly reveal the hero’s demonic nature.

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING (FFF/FDM 2.0, DLP/SLA 1.0, DLP/SLA Eco 1.0, SLS 2.0)

Illidan Stormrage figurine for 3D printing is a static assembly model and its updating and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took Gambody team 58 hours in total. Due to the fact that this figurine was first released on Gambody in 2017 as a model with solid and large wings, for all the WoW fans to print the cleanest figurine possible the model was cut into assembly parts and adapted for different types of 3D printers taking into account the present-day technology advancements. Illidan’s anatomy, facial features, and body proportions were thoroughly reviewed during the moderation process for the figurine to be depicted harmoniously in the intended pose. For the Illidan Stormrage figurine to excel in the level of detail, our team made sure to enhance the tattoo patterns all over the demon’s body and worked on the textures of the rocky platform, the model’s clothes, horns, and wings. The model’s cutting was chosen by our team to minimize the amount of filament needed for generated support and some of the parts were hollowed out for you in the model’s Eco version to save resin. In order to ensure the smooth 3D printed result, Illidan’s large wings were split up, the wing claws were separated, and such parts as The Twin Blades of Azzinoth, figurine’s hooves, horns, and hands, etc. are now provided as separate STL files as well. Once printed the model’s chain is going to be loose for you to display it as you prefer. All the assembly parts are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out so to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any figurine's file you will also receive "Assembly Manual" for FFF/FDM 1.0 and DLP/SLA 1.0 versions in PDF format.

The figurine is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from Illidan's actual height that is 2130 mm. The 3D printing figurine's chosen scale is 1/8 for the FFF/FDM version and 1/16 for the DLP/SLA/SLS versions.

FAQ:

Where can I print a model if I have no printer?
How to get started with 3D printing?
How to set up my 3D printer?
How to choose right 3D model print bed positioning?
How to paint printed figurine?

Below you can find printing recommendations for CuraSimplify3D and Slic3r software.

Cura printing recommendations:

These are basic settings that were tested in Cura 4.8.0 slicer.

The test models were printed on Ultimaker 2, Creality Ender 3, Creality CR-10S Pro V2, Anycubic I3 Mega, Anycubic I3 MegaS 3D printers with PLA and PETG filaments.

Disclaimer: The following printing settings are a recommendation, not an obligation. The parameters can vary depending on the peculiarities of your 3D printer, the material you use and especially the particular assembly part at hand. Each part that any model comprises often needs preliminary review and you are free to tweak the settings the way you find suitable.

Note:
- You can scale up the model (downscaling is not recommended!);
- All connectors should be printed at 100% Infill;
- For all parts of locks (“ge_lock” in “Source files”) you need to change "Brim" type to "Skirt" in Build Plate Adhesion section.
