ABOUT THIS 3D FIGURINE

One of the most famous and awe-inspiring characters in the history of cinema, the Terminator was brought on the big screen by James Cameron’s nightmare in 1894 and since then the cybernetic organism hasn’t ceased to enjoy the status of pop culture icon. The T-800 Terminator constitutes a metal endoskeleton covered by living tissue that is capable of flawless termination and is resistant to almost any form of attack. Mass-produced by a military supercomputer Skynet, the cyborg assassin serves as a weapon with inhuman strength and infiltrating capabilities.

T-800 Endoskeleton figurine for 3D printing joins the Terminator representatives on our marketplace and offers you to 3D print a centrepiece to your sci-fi collection. The author of the model adopted an idea of preparing Endoskeleton’s most popular variant - the one inspired by Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Skynet’s most lethal weapon boasts a fantastic level of detail and can even be depicted holding a Westinghouse M95A1! Concealed inside each seemingly organic Terminator, the Endoskeleton demonstrates a chromed visage of a possible AI takeover that you have a chance to tame by 3D printing the formidable hyper-alloy combat chassis!

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

T-800 Endoskeleton for 3D printing is a highly detailed action assembly figurine and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took the Gambody team 65 hours in total.

In order to preserve the accurate likeness of the iconic T-800 Endoskeleton, the model was divided into many parts that are to be assembled as if a real machine. Taking into account the willingness of our customers to make their 3D printing projects as true to life as possible, Gambody team worked on the highly-articulated assembly of the Endoskeleton that presupposes a variety of movable elements (please, see "Versions' specifications", "Assembly video" and photo preview slider).

The cutting of the model was chosen to ensure the cleanest 3D printing result possible and to minimize the amount of material needed to print the generated support. All assembly parts are provided in STL files of FFF/FDM version in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and so that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. We highly recommend that you get acquainted with the “Assembly video” and "Assembly Manual" before getting down to the T-800 Endoskeleton model.

The figurine is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from the height of the T-800 Endoskeleton which is 1880 mm. The 3D printing model's chosen scale is 1:4 for FFF/FDM and DLP/SLA/SLS versions.

VERSIONS' SPECIFICATIONS

FFF/FDM 1.0 version features:
- Contains 129 parts;
- A printed model is 470 mm tall, 217 mm wide, 187 mm deep;
- You can light up the model's eyesLED wiring can be easily installed throughout the neck and the head of the robot, while the battery can be hidden inside the chest;
- Thanks to the ball-and-claw joint, the head of the Endoskeleton rotates in all directions;
- Shoulder can be articulated via three joints with the help of a ratchet and connectors;
- Elbow bends via a ratchet and sets in motion two functioning shoulder pistons;
- Wrist rotates moderately via a ball-and-claw joint and sets in motion three functioning forearm pistons;
- Each Endoskeleton's finger bends via two phalanges;
- Upper body rotates in all directions via a large ball-and-claw joint located in the machine's waist;
- Rotation of the upper body sets in motion two functioning side pistons;
- Hip rotates in all directions via an adjustable grip connector and sets in motion three functioning thigh pistons;
Knee bends via a ratchet and can be locked in a preferred position;
- The assembly of some of Endeskeleton's parts requires additional “pins”. These pins do not come in STL files but can be made out of short pieces of regular 1.75mm filament;
Hydraulic cables that connect the model's parts are not provided with STL files. You may use the 1.75mm filament of your choice and insert its pieces into designated holes;
- All parts are divided in such a way that you will print them with the smallest number of support structures.

DLP/SLA 1.0 version features:
- Contains 136 parts;
- A printed model is 470 mm tall, 217 mm wide, 187 mm deep;
- You can light up the model's eyesLED wiring can be easily installed throughout the neck and the head of the robot, while the battery can be hidden inside the chest;
- Thanks to the ball-and-claw joint, the head of the Endoskeleton rotates in all directions;
- Shoulder can be articulated via three joints with the help of a ratchet and connectors;
- Elbow bends via a ratchet and sets in motion two functioning shoulder pistons;
- Wrist rotates moderately via a ball-and-claw joint and sets in motion three functioning forearm pistons;
- Each Endoskeleton's finger bends via two phalanges;
- Upper body rotates in all directions via a large ball-and-claw joint located in the machine's waist;
- Rotation of the upper body sets in motion two functioning side pistons;
- Hip rotates in all directions via an adjustable grip connector and sets in motion three functioning thigh pistons;
Poseable knee that can be locked in a preferred position;
- The assembly of some of Endeskeleton's parts requires additional “pins”. These pins can be made out of short pieces of regular 1.75mm filament, regular paper clips, or you can print the 1.75mm cylinders that come with STL files;
Hydraulic cables that connect the model's parts can be printed (they come already twisted in STL files), or made out of 1.75mm filament of your choice;
- All parts are divided in such a way to fit the build plates and to ensure that support structures are generated where needed.

DLP/SLA/SLS Pre-supported 1.0 version features:
- Contains 136 parts;
- A printed model is 470 mm tall, 217 mm wide, 187 mm deep;
- The STL files that this version comprises are pre-supportedhollowed out, and have drain holes where needed;
- You may choose to print the STL files one by one or several at once, depending on the dimensions of your resin 3D printer's build plate;
- When slicing several STL files at once, the attachment layers (Platform Touch Shape) may overlap, but the supports must not come into contact.

These are basic settings that were tested in Cura 4.8.0 slicer.

The test models were printed on Ultimaker 2, Creality Ender 3, Creality CR-10S Pro V2, Anycubic I3 Mega, Anycubic I3 MegaS 3D printers with PLA and PETG filaments.

Disclaimer: The following printing settings are a recommendation, not an obligation. The parameters can vary depending on the peculiarities of your 3D printer, the material you use and especially the particular assembly part at hand. Each part that any model comprises often needs preliminary review and you are free to tweak the settings the way you find suitable.

Note:
- You can scale up the model (downscaling is not recommended!);
- All connectors should be printed at 100% Infill;
- For all parts of locks (“ge_lock” in “Source files”) you need to change "Brim" type to "Skirt" in Build Plate Adhesion section.
