ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL

The USS Enterprise NCC-1701 is a transportation means that appeared within Star Trek media franchise and that has repeatedly been identified as one of the most influential science fiction spacecraft. A popular culture icon that “boldly goes where no man has gone before" under the command of Captain James T. Kirk has been listed among the 50 most significant objects ever to appear in film and finally every 3D printing enthusiast has a chance to obtain one’s very own starship for 3D printing on Gambody! The author of the USS Enterprise model for 3D printing decided to go for the original design of the legendary starship and while working on the project was drawing inspiration specifically from the NCC-1701 ship that is extremely well-loved by the franchise fans and now has a legendary status. Therefore, the model for 3D printing that the author spent 90 hours for is depicted to resemble the vessel's original appearance: a disc-like primary hull, two outset engine nacelles, and a cylindrical secondary hull. The 3D artist made sure that you’ll have every opportunity to showcase your 3D printed Constitution-class vessel in the best way possible - the model’s design presupposes the introduction of LEDs and once printed your beautiful USS Enterprise can be placed on an awesome delta insignia-like stand. The model filmed for Star Trek sci-fi television show is currently on display at the National Air and Space Museum. Thanks to the development of 3D printing technology though, there is no need for you to travel all the way to Washington - one of the most celebrated starships of all times can easily appear on your bookshelf since the STL files of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 are just a click away!

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

USS Enterprise NCC-1701 for 3D printing is a static assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took Gambody team 30 hours in total. For you to receive the cleanest printing result possible and to minimise the amount of filament needed for generated support the Constitution-class starship model was divided into many assembly parts, e.g. its main bridge, planetary scanner array platform, shuttle bay doors, navigation deflector etc. are provided as separate STL files. There can be found special tunnels throughout the hollow body of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 leading into the primary hull, secondary hull and both propulsion units that were designed by our team for you to easily introduce LED wiring. There are many tiny windows (viewports) that the starship is equipped for you to enhance the illumination effect and with the same purpose some of the model’s assembly parts in FFF/FDM 1.0 version can be printed with transparent filament, e.g. the main bridge, space matrix restoration coils, the main sensor, Bussard collector assemblies etc. For you to conveniently display the model among your 3D printed Star Trek collection there was a special stand for the ship prepared that was made to resemble a Starfleet delta shield insignia. All the assembly parts are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out so to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and so that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate.

The model is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from the actual length of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 that is 288000 mm. The 3D printing model's chosen scale is 1/700 for FFF/FDM version and 1/1400 for DLP/SLA/SLS version.
